Dear sponsors and supporters,
As I am realy bad in keeping contact with you and keeping you up to date, I decided to send out an monthly update/email with some pictures and all the details on what happened.
As you maybe know I’ve been far way from home the last 45 days. To be more accurate New Zealand was the place to be once more for our summer camp!
I’ve started working with a new serviceman, Klaus Erhalter, it always takes a while to get used to each other but we get along well and I’m happy with the work he does.
After two weeks of training in very bad snow conditions I had to make the decision, if I would go to Australia for the first races or stay in New Zealand. Because of the lack of training I decided not to go, and later on it turned out to be a great decision, as 3 out of 4 races got cancelled.
As my teammates came back from Australia, it was time for my first competition. It was a night parallel slalom held as the opening of the 2019 New Zealand winter games.
It was such a fun event and I was able to grab 3rd place.
Unfortunately I got sick, and got myself tonsillitis. Nonetheless it was time for the first out of four winter games races. In a very strong field I was able to secure myself a victory in the first anc giant slalom. Due to my illness I had to skip the second GS to save my energy for the slaloms.
In the slaloms I was very happy with my skiing, just couldn’t get two flawless runs down to reward myself with a result.
After the races it was time to head home, and now I’m back in Austria recharging my batteries and getting ready for the first World Cup in Sölden in about 50 days.
See you soon
Sam
